Back By Popular Demand!
Wednesday, 29 April 2009 21:05

3_IMG_4769Back by popular demand, the ERL Honda H22 Sleeved Block and Short Block Packages are now available.  ERL Performance has applied the SUPERDECK I system to the H22A1 and Dry Sleeve System to the H22A4.  Both are CNC machined with ERL’s legendary precision and finish. The stock Honda sleeves are replaced with Ductile Iron Sleeves and the block is reinforced with a billet aluminum deck support.  The Ductile Iron sleeves are proven in race engines to hold over 40 psi of boost.  The SUPERDECK I deck support constrains the top of the sleeve in an open deck block to prevent head gasket failure from sleeve movement.  The ERL H22A1 SUPERDECK I offers the cooling capacity of a stock engine (open deck block) with the strength of a racing engine (closed deck block).  The ERL H22 Short Block Packages are available for nitrous, naturally aspirated and boosted applications.  ERL uses top of the line parts from JE, Manley, Wiseco, and K1.

ERL/AMS EVO X Sleeved Superdeck I
Friday, 13 March 2009 17:02
erl_ams_evo_x_lERL Performance along with AMS is proud to announce the release of our new engine program for the EVO X. At the core of this program is our new ductile iron sleeved 4B11 shortblock. In conjunction with AMS we are now able to provide a much stronger building block for those looking to run some serious power through the 4B11.

Each ERL Performance block starts with a stock 4B11 core. First the block is machined down until the OEM cylinder liners are no more. During this process precise measurements are taken to ensure that there is no structural disruption of the cylinder block. After removing all of the necessary material and machining a step at the top of the bore a final inspection is done to ensure no block distortion. From here ERL then installs proprietary ductile iron sleeves. The sleeves are pressed into the block to sit on top of the machined step. This ensures they will not sink during engine operation. Once in place the new sleeves are machined a few thousands above the rest of the deck surface. This acts much in the way an O-ring does on a closed deck block and allows for a tighter sealing surface between the block, head gasket and head. From here each block is cross hatched and gets its customer chosen final bore size. One of the last steps involves installing a set of ERL spec main studs and align honing the main journals to allow for perfect fitment. Align honing is crucial as it ensures everything lines up correctly even after the machining process.

As you can see it’s a pretty involved process but when it’s all said and done you have yourself a very stout shortblock capable of taking a great deal of HP.

Wednesday, 19 November 2008 15:24
booth_001_lERL Performance joined everyone who is anyone in the industry at the 2008 SEMA show in Las Vegas.  SEMA is the premiere automotive industry specialty trade products event in the world.
“ERL Performance is happy to be a part of the 2008 SEMA show.  All the exhibitors at SEMA were concerned going into to this year’s show due to the economy but we were pleasantly surprised to have more buyers at our booth and we distributed more literature and more stickers than the previous three years   This year ERL Performance showcased two new products:   the 6.1 Hemi 426 c.i. stroker short block exclusively through Power Ported Performance and the EVO-X 4B11 SuperDeck I exclusively through AMS.  Also showcased: the Chevy LS series products including the Chevy LS series 500 c.i. short block; the Chevy LS-series 427 c.i. 4-bolt short block; the Chevy LS-series 6-bolt SuperDeck I short block, the Honda series short blocks, the K24 SuperDeck I naturally-aspirated short block and the B18 Turbo short block.  More people were drawn into our booth this year than in the past because our new booth design and lighted engine stand designs were a big hit and due to the very popular
Chevy LS-series 6 bolt SuperDeck 1 cutaway block by Cutaway Creations.  Thanks for a great SEMA show!”, said Sean Ragains, Marketing Manager, ERL Performance.

Tuesday, 18 November 2008 01:00
interview_001_lERL Performance is pleased to announce a new partnership with our long-time dealer, AMS Racing that has resulted in the development of a Mitsubishi engine block … the ERL/AMS 4B11 which was proudly on display at the ERL Performance booth at SEMA 2008.  “Until recently, all of the 4G63’s were cast iron.  Now that the aluminum, die-cast block, with a reduced weight of 27.5kgs, has been developed, there’s a big market to reach and a lot of power to be made.” said Sean Ragains, Sales Manager for ERL Performance.  AMS Racing was thrilled that ERL Performance was able to develop the sleeve design and create the installation process.  Sean is pictured here interviewing Tim Salefski from AMS Racing at SEMA 2008 in Las Vegas.  The ERL/AMS 4B11 is available exclusively through AMS Racing.

portland_1

September 27-28, Portland, Oregon

Leslie Aramendariz, driving her Horizon Motor Sports, Honda Scion tc, powered by ERL Performance, was in 2nd place with a 9:78 after her first qualifying pass and kept improving with each pass but remained in 2nd place.  After wining the 2nd round, against her good friend Bisi Ezerioha with a 9:43et, Leslie was in the finals.

The finals began with Chris Rado and Kenny Tran both winning in their class so the pressure was all on Leslie to make it an all Scion weekend.  Scott was close but at the end of the strip Leslie took the victory with a 9:40et.  The time slip showed that Scott had red lit, but all participants felt it was due to a photo cell failure.   Leslie was pleased with her car’s performance:  “what a great race and an ALL Scion winners circle. Thanks again to everyone who helps us stay on the track.  We couldn’t do it without you” she said.
