New 6.1 HEMI 426 Stroker Kit in 2010
Sunday, 16 May 2010 20:54
ERL_4B11_2.5L_St_4be2e3709c0b8ERL Performance is proud to introduce our 6.1 HEMI 426 Stroker Kit. The Stroker kit creates a 7.0L monster from stock 6.1L Block and a 6.4L from the 5.7L Block. This increase in displacement gives big gains in torque and horsepower for both Naturally Aspirated and Forced Induction applications. The ERL HEMI Stroker kit comes with Wiseco pistons, K1 crankshaft fully balanced, K1 rods and ACL race bearings. This Kit uses 4.060” pistons to ensure the cylinder wall remains thick for high performance applications. We do not recommend 4.080” pistons that others use.

MARK KOEHLER TESTIMONIAL
Sunday, 09 May 2010 22:34
000_5368sTESTIMONIAL
At the end of 2009, Mike Brown, Steve Turley and I met at ERL performance to review the reliability of the current revision of the Superdeck 1 block and how it performed last season in Mike Brown and Steve Turley’s cars.    Although the blocks held up extremely well to the 2000+HP, ERL was poised and ready to continue the pursuit of an “indestructible” foundation for high horsepower turbo applications. We met with Jeff Liebert and Sean Ragains and it was immediately clear that ERL has every intention of being one of the leaders in the modified LS block world. After discussing several potential changes, some of which seemed less desirable to tackle, they got right to work.    The finished product exhibited superb engineering and attention to detail that is unmatched in the industry. I’m extremely happy to be a part of the ERL team and look forward to a successful 2010 season. See you guys at the track!

Mark Koehler
(Ohio Boys Racing)

000_5373sERL Performance
We are very excited to have Mark join the ERL Performance team for the 2010 season. As many of you know we have been working with Mike Brown and Steve Turley of the Ohio Boys, now for over 3 seasons and have been able to continue to improve and strengthen our Superdeck 1 sleeving. These guys are now up over 2000 hp on a stock LS2 using our patented Superdeck 1 sleeving with unbelievable success. The other Ohio Boy, Mark Koehler ran an LSX based block last year and did extremely well but really wanted to shave a lot of weight to help improve his 60 ft times. He had seen how well our ERL blocks were holding up with his other two band of brothers and decided to make the switch and go with ERL’s LS2 Superdeck 1 “6 bolt” race block.
As many of you know Mark takes great pride in his car and in my opinion is one of the nicest looking race cars out there. He is such a great competitor as well as Mike and Steve and we are very excited to have Mark on board for what will be, I’m sure, a very successful year for the Ohio Boys.

Sean Ragains

ERL 500 CI Turnkey
Tuesday, 06 October 2009 00:17
330919turnkey_002ERL Introduces the first ever 500CI LS2 Turnkey Engine. This engine starts with our proven 500CI short block that has numerous drag racing wins and combines it with street components to create a monster engine for road cars at a great price. The street package provides a full tuned 632HP engine with a very good idle at 1100 RPM. This package is very affordable due the use of L92 Ported Heads and stock LS7 intake manifold. The fantastic part of this engine is the incredibly flat torque curve with a peak of 621 FT-LBS. The Street/Strip version allows for the same great idle at 1100RPM but with significantly more power due to All Pro Heads that flow greater than 400 CFM and an ERL designed 102mm Intake Manifold and 102mm Electronic Throttle Body. This engine provides 700HP with 650FT-LBS of torque. This proves that the ERL 500CI Turnkey Naturally Aspirated engine can outperform even GM’s new supercharged LS9 engine. ERL Performance is offering a very impressive street engine for a very reasonable price. This engine fits C5 and C6 Corvettes as well as F-Body Camaros and Firebirds. ERL provides custom engine mounts to lower the engine in the C5 and C6 Corvettes.

ERL at Hot Rod Power Tour
Thursday, 18 June 2009 17:12
Hot-rod_002_largeThe ERL 500 CI LS2 Superdeck II made its debut in our C5 Corvette at the 2009 Hot Rod Power Tour. We installed the big ERL 8.2 liter LS2 500 CI Superdeck II in the C5 on Tuesday and got it off the Chassis Dyno Tuesday night after putting down 538 whp with 509 ft lbs of torque on 93 Octane. The engine is our basic all-motor street package which put down 632 hp with 620 ft lbs of torque on our Engine Dyno. This package gives you a reliable, “real” pump gas all-motor street car making almost 540 whp as we demonstrated at the Hot Rod Power Tour. And with nearly 1000 miles on this 8.2 liter beast, we never had one problem. It idles at 1100 rpm and redlines at 6500 rpm. The oil pressure stayed right between 42 -45 psi. On the interstate, the engine temp never got over 165 degrees. In town it never got over 198 degrees. We met so many great people who said so many positive things about this unique engine along the way and they reminded us why we are in this business.

New ERL/PPP Hemi 6.1 shortblocks
Wednesday, 11 March 2009 20:28

IMG_2895The short block assembly is one of the most critical procedures in any engine build. No one understands that better than ERL Performance and Power Ported Performance. In an industry where close is good enough, ERL and PPP take a different approach. We believe the best method is a solid foundation. If the block and short block assembly is done right, then bolt on power upgrade can be added in the future. All of our builds start with bare 6.1 block from Mopar. This is the same block that is running in excess of 1,000hp in other vehicles across the country. The crank is micropolished using a 15 micron belt, cleaned and checked using mititoyo inspection gages. With all of our blocks being align honed, the bearing bores for the crank are perfectly straight and sized to match the crank journal diameters. The align honing is a step that the majority of industry chooses to skip due to added costs. The Carrillo rods are the top of the line offering and are the same as used in pro race cars. Each rod is inspected, re-torqued for repeatability, and sized for exact clearance. We use Wiseco pistons that are 2618 alloy with strutted skirt designed to run as little as .004" clearance with excellent skirt wear and minimal noise or rock. The cylinders are torque plate honed to fit each piston. Each piston ring is file-fitted to the cylinder it is going in for an exact ring gap to minimize leakage. ERL /PPP Performance shortblocks come standard with ARP main and head studs as well as Wiseco's top of the line GFX rings.

New Oil Consumption Tech Brief Released
Thursday, 26 February 2009 13:05

oilconsumption_m2_lERL Performance is committed to providing our customers with the findings we discover during our extensive research.  Our newest Tech Brief regarding Oil Consumption is now available in the Tech Brief section for your review.  We get a lot of questions about the durability of our 500 ci SUPERDECK II block. One of the most frequently asked questions is in regard to oil consumption. Customers are curious about how it is possible that a 4.500 inch stroke crank in the 500 ci does not have oil consumption issues. In the tech brief we address those questions as well as a couple of myth’s associated with big stroker engines and we explain how we avoid that in our 500 ci SUPERDECK II." ERL Performance SUPERDECK I "6 Bolt" Cutaway
Tuesday, 03 February 2009 23:23

ls_cutout_001_1“One of the struggles that we have had in the past, trying to describe our SuperDeck I system to people, is that all of the magic is done to the inside of the block.  Once the engine is put into the car, you can’t see the changes that have been made.  So when ERL Performance was approached by Cutaway Creations about doing a cut-away of our 6-bolt short block, we jumped at the opportunity to show people to what great lengths we go to strengthen your block.  We are very pleased with the quality of Cutaway Creations and now we have the ability to explain our processes better and showcase the strong points of what we do.” said Sean Ragains, Sales Manager, ERL Performance.

ERL Performance at SEMA 2008 in Las Vegas
Wednesday, 19 November 2008 15:24
booth_001_lERL Performance joined everyone who is anyone in the industry at the 2008 SEMA show in Las Vegas.  SEMA is the premiere automotive industry specialty trade products event in the world.
“ERL Performance is happy to be a part of the 2008 SEMA show.  All the exhibitors at SEMA were concerned going into to this year’s show due to the economy but we were pleasantly surprised to have more buyers at our booth and we distributed more literature and more stickers than the previous three years   This year ERL Performance showcased two new products:   the 6.1 Hemi 426 c.i. stroker short block exclusively through Power Ported Performance and the EVO-X 4B11 SuperDeck I exclusively through AMS.  Also showcased: the Chevy LS series products including the Chevy LS series 500 c.i. short block; the Chevy LS-series 427 c.i. 4-bolt short block; the Chevy LS-series 6-bolt SuperDeck I short block, the Honda series short blocks, the K24 SuperDeck I naturally-aspirated short block and the B18 Turbo short block.  More people were drawn into our booth this year than in the past because our new booth design and lighted engine stand designs were a big hit and due to the very popular
Chevy LS-series 6 bolt SuperDeck 1 cutaway block by Cutaway Creations.  Thanks for a great SEMA show!”, said Sean Ragains, Marketing Manager, ERL Performance.
